I'd conclude that Shilton Lane's status as a 'No Through Road' is the correct one.

Is it really so bad to cycle on the footway of Old Greenock Road between Bishopton and Erskine? This couple appeared out of Shilton Lane just as I approached, giving me hope that it could be used as a through route.

The start of the cycle facilities at the Barrangary Roundabout on the A8 near Bishopton.

The end of the cycle facilities at the Barrangary Roundabout, and the merge back onto the A8 carriageway, heading towards Bishopton.

Forge Crescent meets Barrangary Road. You just have to know that the cycling provision is on the footway to the left and right, and to get onto it at the toucan crossing just beyond the Advance Stop Line.

The soggy path meets the road network but there is a concrete edging strip sticking up. Uncomfortable to cycle over, and a tripping hazard for walkers.

One of the traffic signals has been demolished so now people have to cross the busy A760 unaided.

Painted cycle lane that fades out, and is invaded by motorists.

A piece of cycle lane that has survived.

The pedestrianised High Street in Paisley, which certain politicians seem intent on abolishing.

Faded painted cycle lanes on Ferguslie Park Avenue. There's parked cars in them further around.

Faded painted cycle lane on residential street, with an even more faded Disabled parking bay in the middle.

Cyclists are directed off the carriageway onto a shared-use segregated footway to go around the roundabout

Are cyclists meant to cycle through the hatching?

Poor cycle route design at bus stop

Road closure on Old Greenock Road, with plenty of space for cycles, but see #52442

Footbridge across M8 motorway, linking Hillington and Renfrew, is stepped, but has wheeling ramps. UPDATE June 2014: This footbridge is going to be replaced by an accessible ramped footbridge built adjacent to the existing structure.

Line-segregated shared-use footway in Hillington Park. The route switches sides ahead (see #47473) but this raised junction traffic calming would make a better location to cross, since motor traffic slows down here.

The A761 (Ferguslie) near Ashview (the old John Neilson high school).
